All our shampoo bars and body soaps are made using natural oils and butters making them gentle on your hair as well as Perfect for your body. One bar does it all and, it'll even make an acceptable shaving soap.
Many of my customers have found that their skin has been helped immensley by using natural products. Whether it's psoriasis or dandruff, natural products really do work. If on the other hand your skin condition is stress related then natural products will, be gentle on your skin, but may not work as well. You will need to tackle the stress.
Soaps and shampoos found in supermarkets and the like, are basically detergent, having had most or all of the glycerine (a by product of soap making and a natural humectant) extracted and sold on or used by companies to include in moisturisers. The chemicals used to make these soaps often irritate the skin. One being SLS or Sodium Laural Sulphate is easily absorbed by the skin!
I do remember a comment from a past hairdresser of mine when I asked what he thought of the dandruff shampoo Head & Shoulders. Not much different to 'Ajax', he replied, "but certainly cheaper."
Commercial shampoos and soaps strip your hair and skin of their natural oils (sebum). In the case of commercial shampoos the more often you shampoo your hair, the more oily it becomes as the Sebaceous glands have to work harder to reproduce what has been lost, and over production can occur.
Sebaceous glands are microscopic exocrine glands in the skin that secrete an oily or waxy matter, called sebum, to lubricate and waterproof the skin and hair. In humans, they occur in the greatest number on the face and scalp, but also on all parts of the skin except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.
Nobody should need to wash their hair every day. For fine straight hair, once or twice a week, for coarse or curly hair once a week as the sebum spreads a lot slower. In short, overwashing can contribute to greasy hair, or dry scalp and hair. And your skin? Yes, you can over wash that too, but that'll be covered in another article.
Thanks to customer feedback I have whittled down the types of shampoo/body soaps and hand/body soaps that I make. These will remain stock items. and they are; Avocado Butter Shampoo/Body Soap, Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo, Goats Milk Shampoo/Body Soap (great for dry hair), Creamy, Moisturising Facial Soap, and the Opus Shampoo/Body Soap. Opus is a luxury bar with additional oils and butters added but still remains an excellent shampoo for all hair types. And for him? Yep the same, I just adjust the colours and fragrances to suit.
